A total of 110 road accidents occurred across Bangladesh during the eight-day Eid holiday from March 28 to April 4.
The accidents left 132 people dead and 208 injured.
Dhaka Division saw the highest number of fatalities, with 32 deaths, as well as the most accidents—27 in total.
The data comes from the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), which published its road accident report on its website.
An analysis of BRTA records shows that the highest number of accidents took place on March 31, the day of Eid. It was also the deadliest day, with 24 people killed in 18 road crashes.
On April 1, a total of 19 people died in accidents, followed by 22 deaths on April 2. After Dhaka, the Chittagong Division reported the second-highest number of fatalities during the holiday, with 31 deaths.
Khulna recorded 23 deaths, Rajshahi 14, Rangpur 11, and Mymensingh 10. The lowest numbers of deaths were reported in Sylhet and Barisal divisions—5 and 6, respectively. In terms of accident counts, Dhaka Division again topped the list with 27 incidents, which left 84 people injured. Khulna reported 19 accidents, Chittagong 17, Rajshahi and Rangpur 14 each, Barisal and Mymensingh 7 each, and Sylhet 5.
