Mahiya Mahi gets back candidacy

The Election Commission (EC) today declared the nomination papers of Dhallywood actress Mahiya Mahi as valid.
Mahiya Mahi’s nomination papers were returned after the appeal hearing on Monday (December 11) afternoon.
During the hearing, Mahi was accompanied by her husband Rakib Sarker and a lawyer. Her name was mentioned in the appeal information as Sharmin Akter Nipa Mahiya.
Before this, actress Mahiya Mahi wanted Awami League’s nomination in the upcoming 12th National Parliament election. For this, she collected nomination forms for the Rajshahi-1 and Chapainawabganj-2 constituencies. However, the party’s Parliamentary Nomination Board did not consider her.
For not being nominated as the party candidate, Mahiya Mahi decided to compete in the elections as an “Independent Candidate” from Rajshahi-1
However, the District Returning Officer declared her nomination paper invalid on the allegation of one percent voter fraud (false signature). After that, the actress got her candidature back through an appeal.
