1 killed, 7 injured in train derailment in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: One person was killed and seven others injured when the Mohonganj Express train derailed at Bhawal Railway Station in Gazipur early Wednesday.
The accident took place on Joydevpur-Mymensingh rail route around 4am. The train communication was suspended due to the accident.
The deceased was identified as Md Aslam Miah, 45, hailed from Gafargaon in Mymensingh.
The injured were admitted to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.
Joydevpur Railway Station Master Hanif Ali said a Dhaka-bound Mohonganj Express train reached Joydevpur station early today. It derailed after going some distance from the station. The train communication will resume after a relief train comes here from Dhaka to salvage the train.
Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Abul Fateh Md Shafiqul Islam said the accident occurred as the miscreants cut off the rail tracks using a gas cutter.
Gazipur Police Superintendent Kazi Shafiqul Alam said legal action will be taken against the culprits.
