Earnings from garment exports in Bangladesh rose by 4.35 percent during the
January-November period, reaching $42.83 billion, primarily driven by non-traditional
markets, as reported by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). According to the

World Trade Organization (WTO) data, the global garment trade size was $576 Bangladesh’s Garment Exports
billion in 2022, and it is expected to slightly decrease in 2023 due to geopolitical challenges.
In the mentioned period, garment shipments to Europe witnessed a modest
increase of 2.28 percent, according to data compiled by the Bangladesh
Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). However,

in the United States, earnings from garment exports declined by 9 percent during the same timeframe.
Meanwhile, garment shipments to non-traditional markets, excluding the
US, Canada, the UK, and the EU, experienced a significant surge of 22.53 Bangladesh’s Garment Exports
