Some 3,000 members of Bangladesh Navy have been deployed to assist the local civil administration in the upcoming 12th national parliamentary election scheduled on January 7.
Along with this, six war vessels were deployed in 11 constituencies of six coastal districts of the country on Wednesday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The constituencies are- Bhola 1, 2, 3 and 4; Cox’s Bazar 2 and 4; Chittagong 3; Noakhali 6; Barguna 1 and 2 and Bagerhat-3.
The Navy members will be on duty in 19 upazilas till January 10 to support the local civil administration on the occasion of elections.
According to the Election Commission’s demand, the Navy has been deployed to provide necessary assistance to the civil administration in various remote areas under its responsibility, including coastal areas.
Meanwhile, armed forces were deployed across the country on Wednesday morning.
The armed forces are being deployed to assist the local civil administration in holding a free, fair and peaceful election as per Section 126 of the constitution’s “In Aid to the Civil Power.”
