At least five people were killed in separate road accidents in Manikganj and Sirajganj districts on Monday.
Three people were killed and two others were in critical state among the four injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw ran over by a Dump truck at outpara area on Manikganj-Singair-Hemayetpur regional highway in Manikganj on Monday morning. The deceased were identified as Jashim Talukder, 42, his grandchild Md Tashen, 5 and CNG driver Md Shahin, 52. The accident was taken place at around 10am, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habil Hossen of Manikganj Sadar Police station.
Police and locals said a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying seven passengers heading towards Manikganj bus stand collided head on with a soil loaded dump truck while it [CNG] was overtaking and killed CNG driver on the spot.
Other two Jashim Talukder and his grandchild were declared
dead when they were shifted to the hospital. The injured were admitted to the district hospitals.
Meanwhile, rwo people were killed in a head-on collision between a locally made engine run three-wheeler Nasimon and battery-run auto rickshaw on the Hatikumrul-Banpara highway in Hamkuria area under Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district on Monday.
One of the deceased was identified as battery-run auto rickshaw driver Saidur Rahman, 27, son of Amir Hossain of Bara Belai village of Handyal union under Chatmohar upazila while identity of another victim could not be known immediately.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Abdul Wadudu said the accident occurred when a battery-run auto rickshaw and a shallow engine-run Nasimon collided head-on in the area around 2:30pm this afternoon, leaving auto rickshaw driver Saidur Rahman and an unidentified woman dead onthe spot.
