Polls to Mymensingh, Cumilla city corporations on 9 March: EC

The elections to Mymensingh and Cumilla city corporations will be held on 9 March.
The voting will start around 8 am and continue till 4 pm, according to the schedule of the Election Commission (EC).
While talking to reports at the EC secretariat, Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman said that the ballots will be cast through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Besides, the upazila parishad elections will be held in phases after the Eid-ul Fitr, Anisur said, adding that the first phase of the local body election may take place within 30 April.
In June 2022, Arfanul Haque was elected mayor of Cumilla City Corporation and on 13 December, the post of mayor became vacant due to his death.
According to the law, the post must be filled through election within 90 days of the vacancy.
