94 Bangladeshi migrant workers held in Malaysia

At least 94 illegal Bangladeshi immigrant workers were detained by Malaysian immigration officers early Saturday.
The officers have detained some 530 people, and 94 of them are Bangladeshis, reports the country’s media outlet, The Star.
They were detained in a raid at the Seri Kembangan wholesale market in Selangor state.
A total of 530 illegal immigrants, including 504 men and 26 women, were detained during the operation.
Among the detainees, 277 were Myanmar nationals, 94 Bangladeshis, 72 Indians, 39 Indonesians, 15 Nepalese, nine Sri Lankans, six Pakistanis and one Vietnamese.
The operation started at 3am local time and ended at 6am on Saturday.
At that time, the attempt of two Bangladeshis to hide in a drain also failed.
Khairul Aminus, a director of the country’s immigration department, told The Star: “The detained migrants will be checked to see if they have valid documents to stay in Malaysia. “
