Actor Ahmed Reza Rubel went to the Star Cineplex with director of film ‘Peyarar Subash’ Nurul Alam Atique on February 7.
The 56-year-old reached Bashundhara City from Gazipur at 5:15pm. In the basement, he suddenly fell while getting out of the car.
He was taken to the emergency centre at Bashundhara City but the doctor there advised to take him to the hospital urgently.
Rubel was taken to Square Hospital in an autorickshaw. During this time Director Atiq was also with him.
He was taken to hospital at 5:50pm but he did not have a pulse, a doctor said declining to be named. He was pronounced dead at 5:58pm after a thorough examination.
Rubel died while being taken to the hospital but the cause of his death is unclear.
The actor was Born at Rajarampur in Chapainawabganj on May 3, 1968, and grew up in Dhaka. He began his career with renowned playwright Selim Al Deen’s Dhaka Theatre.
He debuted with the group’s ‘Haathodai’. He made his TV debut through Gias Uddin Selim’s ‘Swapnajatra’, aired by Ekushey TV. He shot to fame with his work in Humayun Ahmed’s Eid drama ‘Poka’.
Rubel was honoured for his work in Humayun’s ‘Atithi’, ‘Nil Toyale’ ‘Bishesh Ghoshona’, ‘Sobai Gechhe Bone’, ‘Brikkho Manob’, and ‘Jamunar Jol Dekhte Kalo’.
He also gained spotlight with his stellar performance in ‘Pret’, based on the novel of the same name by Muhammed Zafar Iqbal.
Rubel also acted in ‘Barota Bajar Aage’, ‘Protidan’, Nobab Gunda’, ‘FnF’, ‘Ekannoborti’, ‘Ronger Manush’, ‘Pathhor’, ‘Atal’, ‘Chair’, ‘Swarnakalas’, ‘Ayeshar Itikotha’, ‘Durer Barir Kachher Manush’, ‘Syed Barir Bou’ and many more TV dramas.
His career in film began in 1994 through ‘Akheri Hamla’.
He acted in 19 movies, including ‘Ajker Faysala’, ‘Muktir Sangram’, ‘Rongin Rongbaj’, ‘Ke Oporadhi’, ‘Sabas Bangali’, ‘Meghla Akash’, and ‘Poushmaser Pirit’. Humayun’s ‘Candrakatha’ and ‘Shyamalchhaya’ earned Rubel fame in film.
‘Bachelor’, ‘Guerilla’, ‘The Last Thakur’, ‘Alatchakra’, ‘Lal Moroger Jhuti’ and his last movie ‘Chironjib Mujib’ earned Rubel a different kind of fame.
He also performed in ‘Parapar’ by Indian filmmaker Sanjoy Nag.
On OTT platform, he acted as Satyaajit Ray’s Feluda in ‘Nayan Rahasya’ by Toukir Ahmed.
Rubel was optimistic about the success of his latest work ‘Peyarar Subash’ with Joya Ahsan in the central role. The film screened in Moscow International Film Festival last year.

Ahmed Rubel’s wife Tarana was born on 16 August 1966 in Tangail, Bangladesh (Then East Pakistan). She is 57 years old as of now. She is a member of the Bangladesh Awami League. She was born to M A Halim and Akhter Halim. She did LLM from the Univeisty of Dhaka.
She had been a member of Parliament from 14 January 2014 to January 2019. She served as the minister of State for Post and Telecommunications from 14 July 2015 to 3 January 2018. She served as the minister of State for Information from 3 January 2018 to 7 January 2019.
Ahmed Rubel and his wife Tarana Halim are blessed with two sons (aged 25 and 34).
Ahmed Rubel’s full name was Ahmed Reza Rubel who was born on 3 May 1968 in Chapainawabganj District, Rajshahi Division, East Pakistan, Pakistan (now Bangladesh) to a teacher (Father) in Chayabithi, Gazipur. His father is 81 years old as of now. One of Ahmed’s brothers passed away before from a heart attack. He had four sisters, two live in Dhaka and two live in the US.
At the time of Ahmed’s death, he left a net worth of around $2 million for his wife and children.
