Sujata, a popular actress of Bengali films of the sixties and seventies, was admitted to the hospital after being seriously ill. He fell ill after returning home after shooting the movie “Operation Jackpot” in Gazipur on Tuesday.
According to the media, Sujata’s grandson Fardin Azim confirmed the illness. He said, “My grandmother is now under the observation of the doctor. Everyone will pray for my grandmother.’ Sujata is one of the most popular heroines of films in the sixties.
Apart from acting, he also directed and produced. The number of films he acted in is more than three hundred. More than 50 of these films are of the folk genre. Sujata became an overnight star in the film ‘Roopban’ released in 1965. Actress Sujatha played the role of a 12-year-old heroine. Her notable films include ‘Roopbaan’, ‘Dak Babu’, ‘Zarina Sundari’, ‘Aparajeya’, ‘Agun Neeye Khela’, ‘Kanchanmala’, ‘Alibaba’, ‘Beiman’, ‘Onek Prem Onek Jala’, ‘Pratinidhi’ etc.
Sujata has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 42nd National Film Awards for her contribution to the film industry. He was also awarded Ekushey Padak in 2021 for his outstanding contribution to the arts.
