The fire at the S Alam Sugar Mill located in the Karnaphuli Thana area of Chittagong was not brought under control until 10:30 pm on Monday (March 4). Specialized units of the Army, Navy and Air Force have already joined the fire service to bring the fire under control. At around 9:30 pm, Navy and Army personnel started working to control the fire. Assistant Director of Chittagong Divisional Fire Service Abdul Malek confirmed this information.
Bangladesh Air Force Jahrul Haq Base Flight Lieutenant Habibur Rahman said that a team of 13 members of the Air Force took part in extinguishing the fire at night. Special fire fighting vehicles of the Air Force with a capacity of 10,000 liters of water are being used.
Earlier, the Chittagong fire service control room informed that the mill fire was not brought under control till 9:30 pm. 14 units of fire service are working to control the fire.
