Instead of grapes and dates, use plums in Iftar. The Prime Minister instructed that there would be no Iftar party. Garnish the iftar plate with local fruits, said Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Monday.
In response to questions from reporters during the third session of the Deputy Commissioners’ (DCs) Conference on Monday, the minister stressed the importance of considering the economic challenges facing the country and encouraged individuals to opt for more affordable options such as plums and guavas instead of pricier fruits like apples and grapes.
Minister Humayun highlighted the need for practical solutions to address the nation’s issues, stating, “The solution to the country’s problems does not come from the sky. The problem must be solved standing on the ground.”
He reiterated the Prime Minister’s directive to forego iftar parties, emphasising the importance of running the country with austerity, especially during times of crisis.
Regarding the promotion of Geographical Indication (GI) products, the minister underscored the significance of protecting Bangladesh’s unique products and ensuring that their copyright remains in the hands of the country.
He affirmed the ministry’s efforts to establish and safeguard the identity of Bangladesh’s own products.
