The government has decided to sell beef, mutton, chicken, milk and eggs at affordable rates from March 10 on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, said Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman.
The minister disclosed the decision after attending the session of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock during the second day of the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference in the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Monday (March 4).
The minister said beef will be sold at Tk600 per kilogram, mutton at Tk900 per kilogram, dressed broiler chicken at Tk280 per kilogram, and each egg will be sold at Tk10.50.
These essential items will be available at 30 locations in Dhaka, he said, adding that the sale will continue uninterrupted until the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision came as an attempt to bring the soaring prices of these protein sources down during the month of Ramadan.
