Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha in a drive on Monday sealed off 10 restaurants, cut electricity disconnections from six restaurants, and evicted a rooftop restaurant of a building named ‘Gawsia Twin Peak’ in Dhanmondi area of Bangladesh capital Dhaka.
Rajuk Zone-3 director and deputy secretary Tazina Sarwar led the drive between 11:00am and 5:00pm. She also fined ‘Spice and Herbs’ restaurant Tk 2 lakh.
‘We have closed the operations of those restaurants as the buildings’ approval plan is designated for offices and not for restaurants. We have evicted and destroyed the rooftop “Retro Live Kitchen” for using the rooftop as a restaurant, though it is designated for keeping open space,’ she said. She said that they would continue such drives in the coming days.
In another drive, the Dhaka South City Corporation and Fire service and Civil Defence, in a joint drive, closed the entry of people in a building named Keari Crescent in the capital’s Dhanmondi for not having fire safety. DSCC executive magistrate Md Jahangir Alam led the drive. They also hung a notice and closed the entire building.
