The High Court (HC) has issued an order for the closure of all primary and secondary schools during Ramadan.
The HC bench comprising of Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order after the hearing on Sunday (March 10).
Advocate Mahmuda Khanam moved for the petitioner while deputy attorney general Sheikh Md Saifuzzaman stood for the state.
Earlier on February 8, the education ministry decided to keep secondary school open for the first 15 days of Ramadan.
Later, on February 25, Supreme Court lawyer Md Elias Ali Mondal filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the legality of the government’s decision to keep schools open.
