HC order to keep all schools closed during Ramadan has been upheld

The chamber judge of the Appellate Division has upheld the High Court order that said primary and secondary schools would remain closed during the month of Ramadan.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim came up with the order on Monday afternoon.
At the same time, the court has fixed Tuesday for hearing the appeal in this regard in the full bench of the Supreme Court.
Attorney General A M Amin Uddin represented the state.
On Sunday, the High Court ordered the closure of primary and secondary schools during Ramadan.
At the same time, the previous notification issued to keep schools open was suspended.
On February 8, the government amended the holiday list for educational institutions keeping the regular activities of secondary schools open for 15 days during the month of Ramadan.
The Ministry of Education issued a notice in this regard.
Earlier on February 25, Supreme Court lawyer Md Elias Ali Mondal filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the legality of the government’s decision to keep primary and secondary schools open during Ramadan.
Secretaries and deputy secretaries of the Primary and Mass Education Ministry, the director-general of the Primary Education Directorate, and the director of the Children Welfare Trust have been made respondents to the rule.
The writ also sought directives to keep schools closed during Ramadan until the rule is settled.
