BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has criticized the ‘reckless attacks’ on opposition parties, especially targeting BNP, as a tactic to maintain power.
In a press release issued on Thursday (April 18), Fakhrul expressed his dismay over the post-election situation, highlighting the ‘indescribable oppression and torture’ faced by opposition leaders and activists.
He accused the government of resorting to intimidation tactics, including filing ‘false and baseless cases’ and denying bail, in an effort to suppress the opposition and maintain its grip on authority.
Fakhrul alleged that the ruling party has intensified its crackdown on opposition voices, illustrating what he terms as a “dummy Awami fascist government” bent on silencing dissent at any cost.
