The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted that the ongoing very severe to severe, and mild to moderate heat wave that is sweeping over different parts of the country is likely to continue.
“Very severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Chuadanga and Pabna and severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Tangail, Bogura, Bagerhat, Jashore and Kushtia. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over rest parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the divisions of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barishal and the districts of Moulavibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni and Bandarban and it may continue,” said a weather bulletin issued Saturday morning.
“Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country. Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country,” it added.

Due to the increased amount of moisture incursion, people may continue to feel discomfort.
However, the BMD also predicted that rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places in the next 24 hours commencing 9am on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man died of heatstroke at Munsirhat of Sadar Upazila of Munshiganj on Saturday.
The deceased was Sakhawat Hossain Mukul of Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj. He was a sales representative at RFL. Ferdous Hasan, a duty doctor at Munshiganj General Hospital, said Sakhawat was brought dead. He had symptoms of a heat stroke.
The deceased’s colleague, Mohammad Rokon, said Sakhawat fell ill due to the intense heat while working at Munshirhat. Later, he was taken to Munshiganj General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

In Sylhet, a 50-year-old rickshaw puller died from suspected heat stroke in Sylhet city’s Chauhatta area on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Abul Hashem, 50, of Sunamganj, said Md Moinuddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station.
Abul Hashem fainted and fell from the rickshaw all of a sudden, around 11 am, he said. Traffic police and locals moved his body to a nearby police box, where he died. The dead body was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, added the OC.
Meanwhile, a tourist fell sick and, later, died at Sugandha beach in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Motiur Rahman, who came to Cox’s Bazar from Cumilla on Thursday and boarded at Hotel Sea View.
Sea beach employee Belal Hossain said, “Motiur Rahman was standing beside Lifeguard Tower in the morning. Suddenly, he fell sick. Later, lifeguard and beach employees took him to Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead by the on-duty doctors.
