Very severe heat wave is sweeping over the district of Chuadanga and severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of the north and northwestern part of the country.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday morning extended the heat alert for three more days as the ongoing heatwave is expected to continue for the next 72 hours.
“Due to increasing moisture incursion, the discomfort may increase. The 72-hour heat alert started from today and will continue till April 30,” according to the warning notice of the meteorological department.

The heatwave have been continuing in the country since March 31. It may decrease from first week of May through heavy rainfall, the met office predicted.
Meanwhile, two teachers die of ‘heatstroke’ in Jashore and Chattogram on Sunday.
Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka and Barishal divisions and the rest part of two north and southwestern divisions along some other districts.
“Very severe heat wave is sweeping over the district of Chuadanga and severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jashore and Kushtia. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka and Barishal divisions and rest parts of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the districts of Dinajpur, Rangamati, Chandpur, Feni and Bandarban and it may continue”, said a met office release for the next 24 hours begins from 9am Sunday.
Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places. Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Due to the increase of moisture incursion, the discomfort may persist. Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas. Meanwhile, a secondary school teacher suddenly fell sick at his school in Jashore Sadar upazila on Sunday morning and died.
The deceased was Ahsan Habib, an assistant teacher of Amdabad Secondary School in the upazila.
Jashore General Hospital supervisor Dr Abdur Rashid said, “Ahsan Habib was brought dead to the hospital.”

According to the deceased’s relatives, the teacher went to the filed before going to the school in the morning for work. Later he went to the school and fell sick.
He might have died from heatstroke, they claimed.
“But we still not get the final report. Emergency physicians suspect that he might have died of cardiac arrest,” Dr Abdur Rashid added.
