Panic erupted in the secretariat on Wednesday afternoon after over a hundred students entered the premises, demanding the cancellation and reevaluation of the recently published HSC and equivalent exam results.

The sudden intrusion left many officials and employees fearing for their safety, with some attempting to leave the secretariat before the end of the working day.

On-site reports revealed that numerous officials and staff were seen trying to exit the building, but all gates were closed, preventing them from leaving. This added to the growing sense of anxiety among those inside.

“I don’t know when we will be able to leave. Suddenly, we heard a loud noise, and people started running everywhere. I want to get out, but all the gates are shut. This is not how the Secretariat should function. Is this a factory for demands?” said Nilufar Yasmin, an employee trapped inside.

The students had earlier gathered in front of the Ministry of Education, demanding the re-publication and correction of errors in 2024’s HSC results.

At around 2:50pm, they breached the secretariat, defying police barriers, and began chanting slogans.

Law enforcement personnel initially requested the students to disperse. When they refused, the police chased them and resorted to baton charges.

Several students were trapped inside the secretariat during the commotion. They were later detained and taken away in police prison vans.
