The Public Service Commission (PSC) has postponed the written examination for the 46th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) recruitment amid ongoing student protests.
The announcement came late Sunday night, around 9:30 PM, from interim government advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, who addressed the demonstrators at the Raju Sculpture on Dhaka University campus.
Asif Mahmud stated that the decision was made following discussions between government representatives and PSC officials.
However, student protesters said that halting the examination is not enough.
They vowed to continue their movement until all of their eight-point demands are fulfilled, calling for a mass gathering at the sculpture on Monday.
Earlier in the evening, job seekers had marched from the sculpture to Shahbagh intersection, blocking traffic for over an hour before returning to their protest site.
Later at night, Asif Mahmud and other senior officials met with the protesters at Raju Sculpture and, after discussions, succeeded in persuading them to end their hunger strike.
