City Group Chairman Fazlur Rahman passed away in the capital early Monday. He was 77.
Rahman, also Chairman of Somoy TV, breathed his last at the United Hospital in the capital at around 4 am. He had been suffering from respiratory disease for a long time.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Dhupkhola field in Gendaria after Asr prayers.
According to family sources, he also worked at his office till Sunday evening. Later in the night, he fell sick and was taken to the hospital immediately. Fazlur Rahman is survived by his wife, a son, and three daughters.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Fazlur Rahman, chairman of City Group.
In a condolence message, Sheikh Hasina prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. It is mentionable that in 1972, City Group began its operations with the production of mustard oil. He later expanded his business through investment in other fields.
