Two people lost their lives when a bus crashed into a motorcycle on Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway in Sadar upazila of Kushtia this morning (April 12).
The victims, Nayan Islam, 25, and Roni Islam, 26, were on their way to work when the accident occurred around 8:00am in the Batoil area.
Nayan was from Shalghar Madhua village in Kumarkhali upazila, while Roni hailed from Durbachara village in Uzangram union.
Both were employees of Qiam Metal Industries Limited, located on the outskirts of Kushtia town. Ardesh Ali, senior station officer at Kushtia Fire Service and Civil Defense, confirmed the incident.
He said: “They were on their way to work when their motorcycle collided with a Khulna-bound Gorai Paribahan bus while overtaking another vehicle, leaving Nayan and Roni dead on the spot. However, the third rider, Mizanur Rahman, escaped unhurt.”
Kushtia Chaudhary Highway Police Station chief Syed Al Mamun said, “we recovered the bodies and sent to hospital for autopsy.”
“We are investigating the incident involving the bus,” he added.
