Ten students from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have been honored with scholarships by the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) of Japan in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements for the 2023 academic year.
A formal award ceremony was held at the office of the Vice-Chancellor, where BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A K Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan presented the scholarship cheques to the recipients as the chief guest.
The selected students represent four faculties of the university.
From the Faculty of Veterinary Science, the recipients include Lara Sarker and Mahani Mohal Ansary Keya.
The Faculty of Agriculture saw four awardees: Rifa Nanjiba Jeny, Jannatul Ferdous Ritu, Syeda Shamima Ahmed Shucy, and Md. Nabiul Hoque.
Sayma Siddika Saba and Esha Ahammed were selected from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, while Md. Mizanur Rahman Naim and Arafia Jahan were honored from the Faculty of Fisheries.
Mohammad Toufiqul Islam, Acting Director of the Public Relations and Publications Office at BAU, confirmed the names of the awardees.
Established in 1989, the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation is a Japan-based non-governmental organization dedicated to the conservation of nature in developing countries.
As part of its mission, NEF supports meritorious undergraduate and postgraduate students through financial assistance.
Alongside BAU, the foundation also extends its scholarships to students from institutions such as the University of Dhaka, Jahangirnagar University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University.
