Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is a major doubt for next week’s crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, after sustaining a hamstring injury during the first leg.
The Argentine forward was substituted at half-time during Wednesday’s thrilling 3-3 draw in Spain.
Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi expressed uncertainty post-match regarding Martinez’s availability for the return fixture at the San Siro on Tuesday.
On Friday, Inter confirmed that Martinez had suffered a hamstring strain but did not specify a recovery timeline.
However, Italian media reports indicate the striker is likely to be sidelined for at least a week, ruling him out of Saturday’s Serie A clash against Verona and making his participation against Barcelona highly unlikely.
Martinez has been in top form this season, leading Inter’s scoring charts with 21 goals across all competitions, including eight in the Champions League.
His potential absence would be a significant blow for the Nerazzurri as they aim to secure a place in the Champions League final.
