Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Saturday praised the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for reaching an immediate ceasefire agreement amid escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
In a statement issued Saturday night, Professor Yunus said, “I most sincerely commend Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of India and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan for agreeing to a ceasefire with immediate effect and to engage in talks.”
He also extended his appreciation to U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for their mediation efforts, which played a pivotal role in bringing the two sides to the negotiating table.
“Bangladesh will continue to support our two neighbours to resolve differences through diplomacy,” the Chief Adviser added, underscoring Dhaka’s commitment to regional peace and stability.
