All-rounder Liam Dawson has been recalled to England’s T20 squad for the upcoming home series against the West Indies, marking his first appearance since 2022.
However, opener Phil Salt has been left out of the ODI squad announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
England will host the West Indies for three ODIs and three T20 internationals between May 29 and June 10, with recently appointed white-ball captain Harry Brook set to lead both squads.
Batting all-rounder Will Jacks has earned a place in both squads following his consistent performances, while Luke Wood and Tom Hartley have been recalled to the T20 and ODI sides respectively. Both players last featured in white-ball internationals in September 2023.
Several squad members, including Jacks, Jos Buttler, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, and Jofra Archer, were participating in the Indian Premier League before it was suspended due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The IPL is scheduled to resume on May 17, with the final set for June 3—overlapping with England’s ODI series.
British media reports suggest that the ten English players involved in the IPL will consult with the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) to review security measures before deciding on a return to India.
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has confirmed discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the safety of its players amid the ongoing crisis.
England are also scheduled to play a historic four-day Test match against Zimbabwe, beginning May 22 at Trent Bridge.
