The Bangla Noboborsho Concert marking Pahela Boishakh celebrations has begun with enthusiasm at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Monday.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Culture and technically supported by the Chinese Embassy, is being implemented by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The program, which started this Monday afternoon, promises to entertain crowds with a blend of music, tradition, and technology. A wide range of performers—from budding local talents to well-known names—are captivating audiences from afternoon until night.
The festivities began with the performance of young artists from the Basic Guitar Learning School, followed by a tribal singing group from Bandarban, showcasing Bangladesh’s cultural diversity.
Crowd-favorite band Rafi and Rockers (R&R) took the stage next, energizing the audience with hit numbers like ‘Guru Ghar Banaila Ki Diya’ and ‘Sundari Choli Eka Pothe’.
Artists Mithun Chakra and Jalal Ahmed performed around 4:30 PM, adding a soulful touch to the celebration.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki attended as chief guest, while Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen was the special guest.
Singers Rakib, Sagar Dewan, Atia, Anisha, and Ahmed Hasan Sunny performed a variety of songs.
Parsha sang three songs themed around the struggles of Bangladeshis during the July 2024 uprising.
Ambassadors, diplomats, and senior officials, including Cultural Secretary Md Mofidur Rahman and Shilpakala Academy Director General (in-charge) Mohammad Wares Hossain, were among the attendees.
The highlight of the event is the much-anticipated drone show, scheduled for 7 PM. Organizers expect this display to be a visual spectacle symbolizing new beginnings and harmony.
With thousands gathered at the venue, the concert is set to continue into the evening, offering Dhaka residents a lively and memorable start to the Bengali New Year.
