Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has said that the upcoming visit of China’s largest-ever business delegation to Bangladesh will mark a significant step forward in bilateral economic relations.
The delegation, led by Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and comprising over 100 investors, is scheduled to arrive later this month.
“This visit will send a strong signal of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefit, and will elevate China-Bangladesh economic and trade relations to a new level,” Ambassador Yao said on Thursday during a country lecture hosted by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) in Dhaka.
During the visit, both countries will jointly host a trade and investment exchange event where hundreds of Chinese and Bangladeshi enterprises will meet to explore new opportunities for cooperation.
The ambassador also announced that the 15th meeting of the Bangladesh-China Joint Economic and Trade Commission will be held during the visit, with the aim of outlining concrete measures to enhance bilateral trade and economic collaboration.
The event, titled “Five Decades of Bangladesh-China Relations: Towards a New Height”, was held at the BIISS auditorium.
BIISS Director General Major General Iftekhar Anis delivered the welcome remarks, while BIISS Chairman AFM Gousal Azam Sarker presided over the session.
Imtiaz Ahmed, Executive Director of the Centre for Alternatives, Bangladesh, made a keynote presentation.
