Bangladesh stormed to a commanding victory in the second Test against Zimbabwe, winning by an innings and 106 runs to level the two-match series 1–1.After dismissing Zimbabwe for 227 in their first innings, the hosts piled on a formidable 444, thanks to standout performances from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shadman Islam.
Miraz produced a match-defining all-round display, scoring a superb 104 and later returning figures of 5 for 32 in the second innings.
Shadman laid the platform with a resolute 120 at the top of the order, with valuable contributions from Anamul Haque (39), Mominul Haque (33), and Mushfiqur Rahim (40).
The highlight, however, was the 96-run ninth-wicket partnership between Miraz and debutant Tanzim Hasan, who impressed with a confident 41.
Despite a five-wicket haul from Zimbabwe’s left-arm spinner Vincent Masekesa, the visitors were left trailing by 217 runs after the first innings.Zimbabwe’s second outing with the bat fared even worse.
They folded for just 111 in 46.2 overs, with only Ben Curran offering resistance with a gritty 46.
Miraz continued his dominance with the ball, dismantling the middle order, while Taijul Islam added three wickets to his six from the first innings.
Zimbabwe had opted to bat after winning the toss on day one, but their hopes were quickly dashed by Bangladesh’s spin trio.
Taijul Islam’s 6 for 75 and Nayeem Hasan’s two wickets set the tone early.
The win marks Bangladesh’s first home Test victory since 2023, giving the team a strong finish to the series and a confidence boost ahead of future challenges.
