Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived in Chattogram on Tuesday morning for his first visit to his hometown since assuming leadership of the interim government.
He landed at Shah Amanat International Airport at approximately 9:22 am aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, accompanied by members of his official entourage.
As part of his daylong itinerary, Prof Yunus is scheduled to visit Chittagong Port, where he will participate in a high-level meeting at the NCT-5 terminal.
There, he will exchange views with senior officials from the port and shipping sectors, representatives of port users’ associations, and leaders of local trade bodies.
Following his visit to the port, the Chief Adviser will proceed to the Chattogram Circuit House to unveil the foundation stone of the Kalurghat Bridge over the Karnaphuli River—a long-awaited infrastructure project for residents of Boalkhali and Patiya upazilas on the river’s southern bank.
He will also be briefed by city officials on Chattogram’s chronic waterlogging issues and traffic congestion, particularly along the Hathazari road near the Oxygen Intersection.
In addition, Prof Yunus will formally hand over the land deed of the Chattogram National Heart Foundation to its authorities.
Later in the day, he is set to attend the fifth convocation of Chittagong University (CU) as the chief guest, marking a significant event in the academic calendar.
Concluding his visit, the Chief Adviser will make a stop at his ancestral home in Bathua village, located in Shikarpur Union under Hathazari Upazila, reconnecting with his roots before returning to the capital.
