Chief Adviser to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, departed Dhaka early Wednesday on a four-day official visit to Japan, where he will attend the 30th Nikkei Forum and engage in high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
A Cathay Pacific flight carrying Prof Yunus and his delegation took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at approximately 2:10 am, according to Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
During the visit, Prof Yunus is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to discuss avenues for deepening cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan across various sectors, including trade, investment, and development.
As per the itinerary released by the acting foreign secretary, the Chief Adviser is expected to arrive at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport around 2:30 pm local time. He will be welcomed with state honours by Japan’s Chief of Protocol, senior government officials, and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan.
The visit is seen as a significant diplomatic engagement, as both countries seek to reinforce their longstanding partnership and explore new opportunities for collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region.
