DE News Desk :
A Dhaka court on Sunday set May 12 as the new date for submitting reports on the execution of arrest warrants against 53 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and her niece Tulip Siddiq, in connection with multiple cases over alleged irregularities in plot allocations under the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order after police failed to submit the required reports, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public prosecutor Mir Ahammed Salam confirmed.
Earlier, on April 13, the same court issued arrest warrants against 53 people, including Hasina, Rehana, and their family members, after accepting charge sheets in three separate cases filed by the ACC.
According to case details, ACC Deputy Director Salahuddin filed one case against Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and 12 others, alleging they illegally acquired a 10-katha plot in Purbachal through abuse of power and document forgery.
Investigation Officer Afnan Jannat Keya later submitted a charge sheet on March 10, adding two more accused to the list.
Another case was filed by ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya on January 13 against Azmina Siddiq, daughter of Sheikh Rehana, for similar charges related to a separate 10-katha plot. The case also implicated Sheikh Hasina and Tulip Siddiq, among others.
A corresponding charge sheet was filed on March 10.
Meanwhile, ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan lodged a third case on January 13 against Radwan Mujib Siddiq and 15 others, with a charge sheet naming 18 accused filed in March.
The ACC charge sheets allege that Sheikh Rehana, along with her children Azmina and Radwan, influenced Sheikh Hasina to allocate plots in Purbachal by bypassing standard RAJUK procedures.
They reportedly submitted applications directly to the prime minister rather than to RAJUK, violating laws, policies, and guidelines governing land distribution.
The charges also note that the accused individuals and their families already owned residential properties within RAJUK’s jurisdiction in Dhaka, making them ineligible for new plot allocations under existing rules.
