Dhaka woke up to a sweltering 29.7°C at 6 AM today, as the ongoing heatwave continues to grip the capital, intensifying daily hardships for residents.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), no major change in weather is expected today.
Much like Saturday, city dwellers will have to endure persistent high temperatures throughout the day, with dry conditions and a clear sky forecast for Dhaka and surrounding areas.
Winds are expected to blow from the west and southwest at speeds ranging from 10 to 15 kilometers per hour, the latest BMD bulletin stated.
The daytime temperature is likely to remain unchanged from previous days.
However, meteorologists predict some relief may be in sight, with the heatwave expected to ease slightly within the next two days.
Saturday marked the hottest day of the season in the capital, with the mercury reaching a scorching 40.1°C.
Elsewhere in the country, Chuadanga recorded the highest temperature of the season at a blistering 42°C on Saturday afternoon, surpassing Friday’s high of 41.2°C.
The extreme heat has raised concerns over public health and urban living conditions, prompting calls for precautionary measures and adequate hydration.
