Rising tensions between India and Pakistan have prompted the diversion of at least two international flights en route to Dhaka, following reports of missile attacks in parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir on Wednesday.
Airport sources confirmed that the flights were either diverted mid-air or rerouted in advance as a precautionary measure due to security concerns over the escalating situation in the region.
Turkish Airlines flight TK-712, scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from Turkey, was diverted to Muscat International Airport in Oman, avoiding Pakistani airspace altogether.
Meanwhile, Jazeera Airways flight 531, also bound for Dhaka, was rerouted to Dubai.
Its return leg (533/534) was redirected to Kuwait, bypassing the planned stop in Dhaka.
Airport authorities in Dhaka reported that the affected flights began arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Wednesday morning, as regional air traffic conditions started to stabilize.
The situation continues to be monitored closely by aviation and security agencies to ensure the safety of passengers and crew amid the ongoing geopolitical developments.
