The Labour Reform Commission on Monday submitted its final report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, presenting a set of recommendations aimed at overhauling Bangladesh’s labour sector.
The report was handed over during a meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna around noon, according to Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.
The 10-member commission was formed by the interim government on November 17, 2024, with Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Executive Director of the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS), serving as its chair.

Tapan Dutta, president of the Chattogram divisional committee, Bangladesh Trade Union Centre

Advocate AKM Nasim, former president, Bangladesh Labour Court Bar Association

M Kamran T Rahman, former president, Bangladesh Employers’ Federation

The commission was tasked with reviewing existing labour laws, consulting stakeholders, and offering policy recommendations to ensure fair labour practices, stronger protections for workers, and alignment with international labour standards.
The Chief Adviser’s office is expected to review the report before any decisions on implementation are announced.
