According to UNICEF estimates, from 2016 to 2021, a total of 43.1 million children have been displaced in the world. Out of this, 2 crore 21 lakh children were displaced due to storm, 1 crore 97 lakh due to flood, 13 lakh due to drought and 8 lakh 10 thousand children were displaced due to fire.
The Philippines has the highest number of displacements in the Asia region. 9.7 million children have been displaced in the country in five years. India is next. 6.7 million children have been displaced in the country in 5 years. China, another Asian country, is on the third place in the list. 6.4 million children were displaced in the country from 2016 to 2021.
3.3 lakh children have been displaced due to various natural disasters in Bangladesh, which is at the fourth position in the list. Among them, the number of children displaced by flood in Bangladesh is 950,000 and 23 lakh displaced due to storm.
