Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed he will disclose his future plans on May 25, following the club’s final La Liga fixture of the season against Real Sociedad.
The 65-year-old Italian, who has one year remaining on his current contract, has been widely linked with a potential move to manage the Brazilian national team.
However, Ancelotti emphasized that no announcement will be made before the end of the season.
“I have great affection for my club, my players, and our fans, and I hold a deep respect for them all,” Ancelotti said at a press conference ahead of Madrid’s league clash against Celta Vigo on Sunday.
“So I will speak about my future on the 25th of May, and not before.”
Real Madrid are currently in pursuit of the La Liga title, trailing arch-rivals Barcelona by four points with five games remaining.
Retaining the league crown would offer some redemption after setbacks earlier in the season, including their Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona and a Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Arsenal.
Ancelotti, who is in his second stint as Madrid manager after leading the club from 2013 to 2015 and returning in 2021, has enjoyed considerable success.
His tenure includes three Champions League titles and two La Liga championships.
Looking ahead, Madrid are also set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, starting on June 14.
But before then, Ancelotti insists his focus remains on the league title race, despite a growing injury list.Defenders Antonio Rüdiger, Ferland Mendy, and David Alaba have all been ruled out for the rest of the season, joining long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão.
“It’s true we’ve had a difficult week with injuries,” Ancelotti acknowledged.
“But we’re still motivated and confident that we can put out a strong team and keep fighting for La Liga until the very end.”
When asked about the possibility of his departure, Ancelotti described it as inevitable but peaceful.
“The day I leave Real Madrid, whenever that may be—this month, next year, or even later—it will be a beautiful day,” he said.
“I’ve never had a conflict with the club in all my time here, and I never will. That’s a promise.”
